Pokemon of the Day
Being the stage one of one of the starting Pokemon in the Original GameBoy game series Charmander has been one of the most popular Pokemon for a long time. Also contributing to Charmander's popularity is the fact that his stage 2 evolution is Charizard, who is by far one of the most popular Pokemon of all time. Charmander is a fire-type Pokemon, and has resistance to fire, ice, grass, bug, steel and fairy. Also, Charmander is weak against water, ground, and rock-type Pokemon. Charmander makes several appereances in the anime series as he is one of Ash's main Pokemon he uses. One of his most notable appearances is in the episode Charmander the Stray Pokemon. This is the episode where Ash and Charmander first meet after Charmander's original trainer abandons him in the cold rainy night. Ash saves Charmander before his tail fire goes out and in the end Charmander and Ash become great friends for the remaining of the show.

Charmander is a basic type Pokemon. His stage one Pokemon is Charmeleon, and his stage three evolution is Charizard.
Fun Facts:
- Charmander's life force comes from the light on the end of his tail.
- Charmander appears as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
- Charmander makes an appearance in the movie Austin Powers Goldmember. He is visible in the famous "Godzilla" scene.
- Charmander will die if the light on his tail goes out.
- Charmander is the first fire type Pokemon in the national Pokedex.
