XY Base Bet Card Review! #5 Beedrill

The Basics:
The Pokemon card that I want to review today is the Beedrill card from the XY Base Set. It is card number 5 out of 146. This is my fifth Pokemon card review ever, and I am excited to be doing several more of these in the future. Beedrill is a stage two grass-type Pokemon with 120 HP. It has a weakness of x2 against fire-type Pokemon. Beedrill has two attacks Poison Jab and Flash Needle Poison Jab does a total of 20 damage and it also poisons the defending Pokemon. Poison Jab takes a total of 1 grass-type energy card. Beedrill's second attack Flash needle 40 damage times the number of heads you flip while flipping three coins. So the Flash Needle can do anywhere from 0 damage to 120 damage. Also, if when you use Flash Needle you role all three heads your opponent cannot effect Beedrill in anyway on their next turn. The retreat cost of this card is 1 energy cards of any type.

The Strategy:
As far as a strategy for Beedrill goes, Beedrill is a stage two Pokemon with its basic Pokemon being Weedle and its stage 1  Pokemon being Kakuna. Weedle was reviewed earlier and Kakuna was was reviewed yesterday. I would highly recommend checking both of those reviews out before reading this one. Even though you would want to have this entire evolutionary chain in your 60 card deck this review is going to focus on solely the Beedrill stage two card. On its own I would highly suggest using this card as a stage two type Pokemon, Beedrill's high HP and attacks that can either effect status or prevent the status of Beedrill being affected can also dish out some heavy punishment with a lucky coin toss. I would use Beedrill in the middle to later stages of a match. If he ever gets into trouble Beedrill has an extremely low retreat cost o you can easily replace him with a stronger Pokemon on your bench. This is the strategy that I would prefer to use if Beedrill was in my 60 card deck. I would not put any more then 1 or 2 of these cards in my deck.

The Rating:
I would give this card a rating of 9/10 for a stage two Pokemon Card. This is an above average card that can be relatively useful if it is utilized in the middle stages of the match. The fact that Beedrill has such a low retreat cost and status effecting attacks can be vital to winning your match. You could easily build a deck that utilized Beedrill and his evolutionary chain.
