Pokemon of the Day: Charizard

Pokemon of the Day

Being the stage two of one of the starting Pokemon in the Original GameBoy game series Charizard has been one of the most popular Pokemon for a long time. Charizard is a fire-type Pokemon, and has resistance to fire, ice, grass, bug, steel and fairy. Also, Charizard is weak against water, ground, and rock-type Pokemon. Charizard makes several appearances in the anime series as he is one of Ash's main Pokemon he uses. Charizard is most noted in the anime series as a Pokemon who does not trust or listen to Ash. The reason for this is Charizard believes that Ash has not proved himself to Charizard as a trainer, and therefore not worthy of training Charizard.

Evolutionary Chain
Charmander is a basic type Pokemon. His stage one Pokemon is Charmeleon, and his stage three evolution is Charizard.

Fun Facts:
  1. Charizard much like Charmander's life force comes from the light on the end of his tail.
  2. Charizard's fire is hot enough to melt boulders.
  3. Charizard can fly up to 4,600 feet.
  4. Charizard will die if the light on his tail goes out.
  5. Charizar's blue fire is stronger then its red fire.

Statistics:
Gender Ratio: Male 88% and Female 12%
Catch Rate: 6%
Hatch Time from Egg: 5355 - 5609 steps
Height: 1.7m
Weight: 91kg

Pokemon of the Day: Charmeleon

Pokemon of the Day

Being the stage one of one of the starting Pokemon in the Original GameBoy game series Charmeleon has been one of the most popular Pokemon for a long time. Also contributing to Chameleon's popularity is the fact that his stage 2 evolution is Charizard, who is by far one of the most popular Pokemon of all time. Charmeleon is a fire-type Pokemon, and has resistance to fire, ice, grass, bug, steel and fairy. Also, Charmeleon is weak against water, ground, and rock-type Pokemon. Charmeleon makes several appearances in the anime series as he is one of Ash's main Pokemon he uses. Charmeleon is most noted in the anime series as a Pokemon who does not trust or listen to Ash. The reason for this is Charmeleon believes that Ash has not proved himself to Charmeleon as a trainer, and therefore not worthy of training Charmeleon.

Evolutionary Chain
Charmander is a basic type Pokemon. His stage one Pokemon is Charmeleon, and his stage three evolution is Charizard.

Fun Facts:
  1. Charmeleon much like Charmander's life force comes from the light on the end of his tail.
  2. Charmeleon evolves into Charizard at level 36.
  3. Charmeleon gainied much of his popularity from the Red version of the original GameBoy games.
  4. Charmeleon will die if the light on his tail goes out.
  5. Charmeleon is the second fire type Pokemon in the national Pokedex.

XY Base Bet Card Review! #5 Beedrill

The Basics:
The Pokemon card that I want to review today is the Beedrill card from the XY Base Set. It is card number 5 out of 146. This is my fifth Pokemon card review ever, and I am excited to be doing several more of these in the future. Beedrill is a stage two grass-type Pokemon with 120 HP. It has a weakness of x2 against fire-type Pokemon. Beedrill has two attacks Poison Jab and Flash Needle Poison Jab does a total of 20 damage and it also poisons the defending Pokemon. Poison Jab takes a total of 1 grass-type energy card. Beedrill's second attack Flash needle 40 damage times the number of heads you flip while flipping three coins. So the Flash Needle can do anywhere from 0 damage to 120 damage. Also, if when you use Flash Needle you role all three heads your opponent cannot effect Beedrill in anyway on their next turn. The retreat cost of this card is 1 energy cards of any type.

The Strategy:
As far as a strategy for Beedrill goes, Beedrill is a stage two Pokemon with its basic Pokemon being Weedle and its stage 1  Pokemon being Kakuna. Weedle was reviewed earlier and Kakuna was was reviewed yesterday. I would highly recommend checking both of those reviews out before reading this one. Even though you would want to have this entire evolutionary chain in your 60 card deck this review is going to focus on solely the Beedrill stage two card. On its own I would highly suggest using this card as a stage two type Pokemon, Beedrill's high HP and attacks that can either effect status or prevent the status of Beedrill being affected can also dish out some heavy punishment with a lucky coin toss. I would use Beedrill in the middle to later stages of a match. If he ever gets into trouble Beedrill has an extremely low retreat cost o you can easily replace him with a stronger Pokemon on your bench. This is the strategy that I would prefer to use if Beedrill was in my 60 card deck. I would not put any more then 1 or 2 of these cards in my deck.

The Rating:
I would give this card a rating of 9/10 for a stage two Pokemon Card. This is an above average card that can be relatively useful if it is utilized in the middle stages of the match. The fact that Beedrill has such a low retreat cost and status effecting attacks can be vital to winning your match. You could easily build a deck that utilized Beedrill and his evolutionary chain.

Pokemon of the Day: Charmander

Pokemon of the Day

Being the stage one of one of the starting Pokemon in the Original GameBoy game series Charmander has been one of the most popular Pokemon for a long time. Also contributing to Charmander's popularity is the fact that his stage 2 evolution is Charizard, who is by far one of the most popular Pokemon of all time. Charmander is a fire-type Pokemon, and has resistance to fire, ice, grass, bug, steel and fairy. Also, Charmander is weak against water, ground, and rock-type Pokemon. Charmander makes several appereances in the anime series as he is one of Ash's main Pokemon he uses. One of his most notable appearances is in the episode Charmander the Stray Pokemon. This is the episode where Ash and Charmander first meet after Charmander's original trainer abandons him in the cold rainy night. Ash saves Charmander before his tail fire goes out and in the end Charmander and Ash become great friends for the remaining of the show.

Evolutionary Chain
Charmander is a basic type Pokemon. His stage one Pokemon is Charmeleon, and his stage three evolution is Charizard.

Fun Facts:
  1. Charmander's life force comes from the light on the end of his tail.
  2. Charmander appears as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
  3. Charmander makes an appearance in the movie Austin Powers Goldmember. He is visible in the famous "Godzilla" scene.
  4. Charmander will die if the light on his tail goes out.
  5. Charmander is the first fire type Pokemon in the national Pokedex.

Statistics:
Gender Ratio: Male 88% and Female 12%
Catch Rate: 6%
Hatch Time from Egg: 5355 - 5609 steps
Height: .6m
Weight: 8.5 kg

XY Base Bet Card Review! #4 Kakuna

The Basics:
The Pokemon card that I want to review today is the Kakuna card from the XY Base Set. It is card number 4 out of 146. This is my fourth Pokemon card review ever, and I am excited to be doing several more of these in the future. Kakuna is a stage one grass-type Pokemon with 70 HP. It has a weakness of x2 against fire-type Pokemon. Kakuna only has one attack Harden that prevents all damage done to Kakuna under 60 HP. Harden takes a total of 1 grass-type energy card. The retreat cost of this card is 2 energy cards of any type.

The Strategy:
As far as a strategy for Kakuna goes, Kakuna is a stage one Pokemon with its basic Pokemon being Weedle and its stage 2  Pokemon being Beedrill. Weedle was reviewed yesterday and I reccommend checking that review out, and Beedrill will be reviewed tomorrow. Eventhough you would want to have this entire evolutionary chain in your 60 card deck this review is going to focus on solely the Kakuna stage 1 card. On its own I would not suggest using this card as a stage one type Pokemon, Kakuna's low HP and attack that does no damage but prevents damage can certainly stall a match that is in the beginning stages until you are able to evolve Kakuna into Beedrill. Another strategy that can be used is to use Kakuna as a set up Pokemon. You can use Harden every move while you begin to set up your bench. This is the strategy that I would prefer to use if Kakuna was in my 60 card deck. I would not put any more then 2 or 3 of these cards in my deck.

The Rating:
I would give this card a rating of 6/10 for a stage one Pokemon Card. This is an average card that can be relatively useful if it is utilized in the early stages of the match. The fact that Kakuna can be utilized as both a set up Pokemon and as a Pokemon that can evolve into Beedrill makes Kakuna a very usable card in a 60 card deck.  You could easily build a deck that utilized Kakuna and his evolutionary chain.

XY Base Bet Card Review! #3 Weedle

The Basics:
The Pokemon card that I want to review today is the Weedle card from the XY Base Set. It is card number 3 out of 146. This is my third Pokemon card review ever, and I am excited to be doing several more of these in the future. Weedle is a basic grass-type Pokemon with 50 HP. It has a weakness of x2 against fire-type Pokemon. Weedle only has one attack Leaf Munch that does 10 damage, or 30 damage if the defending Pokemon is a grass-type Pokemon. Leaf Munch takes a total of 1 grass-type energy card. The retreat cost of this card is 1 energy cards of any type.

The Strategy:
If I were to use Weedle in my deck I would make sure that I had plenty of stronger Pokemon in my deck as well. Weedle would be used to set up my more powerful Pokemon. I would attempt to either evolve Weedle into Kakuna and then Beedrill. I would not use Weedle in my 60 card deck unless I had both Kakuna and Beedrill in my deck as well.  Weedle would not last long in any battle so I would put him on my bench while I attempted to evolve him into Kakuna and Beedrill

The Rating:
I would give this card a rating of 3/10 for a basic Pokemon Card. This is a below average card that will not be very useful by itself. It must have plenty of supporter cards to use along with it. This rating does not take in consideration of Weedles evolutionary chain and only focuses on Weedle as a basic type Pokemon.

Pokemon of the Day: Venusaur

Pokemon of the Day
Being the stage two of one of the starting Pokemon in the Original GameBoy game series Venusaur has been one of the most popular Pokemon for a long time. Venusaur is a grass type Pokemon, and has resistance to water, electric, fighting, grass, and fairy. Also, Venusaur is weak against fire, psychic, and flying-type Pokemon. Venusaur is one of the most sought after cards in the Pokemon Trading Card Game.

Evolutionary Chain
Bulbasaur is a basic type Pokemon. His stage one Pokemon is Ivysaur, and his stage three evolution is Venusaur.

Fun Facts:
  1. Every Pokemon in Venusaur's evolutionary chain has appeared in at least one Super Smash Bros. video game.
  2. Venusaur is the third Pokemon in the national Pokedex.
  3. Venusaur like Ivysaur is said to be able to manipulate nature.
  4. Venusaur is availble as a trophy in the Super Smash Bros. video game.
  5. Venusaur from the base set is one of the most rare and sought after cards in the entire TCG collection.

Statistics:
Gender Ratio: Male 88% and Female 12%
Catch Rate: 6%

Height: 2m
Weight: 100 kg
